Children Should Not Play the Piano!!!
(60 second speech)
I believe that parents should not have their children play the piano because playing the piano can cause a major increase in stress, make your child unsociable and lead to major or minor injuries.
Piano playing can increase triggers of stress. From fear of making mistakes in a performance, fear of critics giving negative reviews that can impact a career, and expecting all pianists to have the same capabilities. Along with the pressure of maintaining grades in school, playing piano is just nerve-racking.
Also, your child may become unsociable. They will be used to playing the piano instead of playing with friends. If you force or allow your child to practice and practice non-stop, they will turn into zombies.
There are many types of injuries that one can obtain through piano playing. They can vary from minor to major. Your child can have a simple hand or wrist pain or numbness in the fingers and arms. Or have more severe challenges like poor blood circulation or sore shoulders and neck. Do you want your child to suffer and be in constant pain?
Sure, playing piano can help your child’s memory, and may help them in math, but is it really worth it? Do you really want to risk the mental and physical safety of your child?
